Introduction

The Equity Accounting system is a true cross-platform multi-user accounting system designed for the new millenium.

The new Equity is a work in progress with new modules and features being developed daily, so check here often for the latest news and releases.

Equity is being developed under Linux, using Open Source tools and technologies, and being tested under Linux, Windows and Mac OSX.

Our goal is simple -
Provide you with a flexible, affordable and versatile Accounting and Information Management system that will run on all currently available operating system platforms. No limits, no gotchas!

Read the background & design goals to gain an overview of why we are building this system and why we chose to develop for and with Open Source.

When complete it will replace the existing DOS based Equity.

Overview

All your day to day information processing needs finally integrated:-

No one can predict what your needs will be in the future or how they will differ as you grow, expand, change directions or even when the Taxman will have another brainwave. To cater for these and other unpredictable changes Equity is based on a flexible core framework which allows fast and easy adoption of new techniques and technologies as they evolve.

Just imagine -
Your customer, Fred, is on the phone. You press Contacts/People, type fred and press Tab. The first contact with Fred is displayed. It's the wrong Fred so you press Page Down and the next Fred is displayed. At this point all the information you need about him, his company, orders, payment history etc, are available. You can send him a letter, e-mail or fax a copy of an order, invoice, statement etc., all without leaving the program or jumping through hoops. Adding additional information to a contact is as simple as turning on a light. You can find any contact, supplier, customer or friend by Company name, First Name, Surname, Key-word(s), Phone Numbers and more.

What all this means to you is simpler operations, better data integrity, easier upgrades and a more pleasant working environment for all members of your company. Just get on with what you do best and leave the management of information to Equity.

Need to work from home? No problem. Equity is a client server application and allows access to your data (at your discression), for you and your trusted staff, via the Internet.

General Features

Overview:
Equity contains a solid information management core that maintains more than just your basic accounting data. With Internet services and e-commerce facilities streamlining your day to day workload it takes advantage of current and emerging standards. We have incorporated everything learned from developing and customising accounting systems over the last 22 years. Equity will grow with you!

Debtors, Creditors & Contacts

Overview:
All people, debtors and creditors are treated as contacts, with all their information in one place making search and destroy (sorry I meant maintenance) easier. Fax a copy of an invoice to a customer by just clicking on the transaction and selecting Send by fax. All transaction history is kept for easy reference with all details. All processing can be controlled from the contact record. Defaults can be set for almost every option e.g., This contact gets printed invoices with goods, statements by fax and all other documents by e-mail etc. Equity will allow selected (by you) trading partners to subscribe to information that you control e.g., Stock Pricing. No longer will you need to publish hard copy price lists. Just think of the savings in DTP, printing, postage!

Quotes, Invoicing, Sales Order Entry and POS

Overview:
Sales orders can be entered for any date both now and in the future enabling stock requirements forecasting etc. Convert sales orders to invoices and back again. All transactions including POS are live and update all relevant ledgers without long winded end-of-day processes. Fast and easy data entry with auto field completion and default values. Instant access to payment processing during data entry to enable customers to pay at time of placing the order.

Stock Control

Overview:
Simple and fast processing of all stock information with tight integration with the Creditors and G/L modules. Add warehousing at any time without loss of data or any additional keying. Items can belong to multiple stock groups. Share and update your data with trading partners.

General Ledger & Cashbook

Overview:
The General Ledger and cashbook are fully integrated with the other modules and provide more power and flexibility than systems costing in excess of $100,000. All reporting and forcasting can be printed or directed to screen or forwarded by e-mail etc.

Note: Whenever the term "Unlimited" is used please keep in mind that it is limited only by available disk space. We have attempted to eliminate any and all limits with Equity, however, we are constrained by the hardware.
