4.1. Overview

You currently have a completely virgin copy of Equity. You need to enter all your company information, but what do you do first? This chapter is designed to lead you through, step by step, setting up the records, accounts and reports needed for you to make best use of this program.

Our problem is we have no way of knowing how much you know about computerised accounting - you may be a novice or a wizz! We have written this section to be basic enough for the novice to understand and work through, but included references to more detailed sections for the wizz. If a section doesn't apply to you, simply skip it and go on to the next.

We also know that now you've made the decision to use Equity for your business accounting you want to start using it NOW. We don't blame you, but please understand that for Equity to work it needs accurate and complete information. Use this chapter as a guide and you will soon be reaping the benefits that Equity Accounting will give you and your business.

Note : We have assumed you have read the Familiarisation and Accounting Primer chapters.
