Each record contains fields where information is either entered or displayed. When information is being entered the field will be highlighted with a blinking cursor. This cursor will appear as either a square, which indicates that you are in insert mode, or as an underline, which indicates overwrite mode. To change modes press the [Ins] key. The following screen segment shows the cursor in insert mode.

Fields within a record follow a set sequence.
To move forward through the fields without changing them press the [Enter] or [Down-arrow] key.
To move backwards press the [Esc] or [Up-arrow] key.
If the [Esc] key is pressed on the first field you will be returned to the previous screen or menu.
A special short-cut has been provided for accepting information without the full screen being completed. By holding down the [Ctrl] key and pressing the [Enter] key a record will be completed as though all fields were entered, as long as all required fields have been entered. Throughout this manual this holding and pressing keys at the same time will be represented by two bracketed keys side by side i.e., [Ctrl][Enter].
Note: If required fields have not been entered the computer will beep and place the cursor on the next required field. Required fields must be entered as they are used in reports or automatic functions.
